The seminar on Anti-Vaping was held on 5 March 2016 at Dewan Kecemerlangan , Pauh Putra Campus of UniMAP which was jointly organized by Health Center UniMAP (PKU) together with State Health Department and University Student Representative Council . Approximately 470 staff and students have attended this seminar.
The objective of the seminar was to instill awareness on danger of smoking and the use of electronic smoking devises including the use of vape. The seminar addresses the current issues related to the use of Vape in Malaysia which encompasses health, legal and religious aspects by the three expert panels. The Deputy Vice Chancellor of UniMAP Dato' Professor Dr. Zul Azhar Bin Zahid Jamal who is an acting Vice Chancellor has officiated the seminar. In his opening speech Dato' Professor Dr. Zul Azhar Bin Zahid Jamal advised UniMAP students who smoke to quit smoking and to seek help from Quit Smoking Clinic run by PKU. Quit Smoking Clinic has offered its services to staff and students alike since July 2015. The Director of the State Health Department Dr. Zaini bin Hussin was a guest of honour at the event. UniMAP has always committed to Green Campus Initiatives and it is determined to keep our campuses free of smoke. As we all know smoking is not only harmful to the smoker but also endanger the lives of people around him or he . Therefore existing university rules and regulations will be used to discourage smoking habits apart from such educational program as today's seminar.
Several exhibition booths were set up outside the dewan to show case Quit Smoking Clinic, Dental Clinic and Lung Function test demonstration.
All the participants signed on the 'UNIMAP'SAYS NO TO VAPE' banner as a symbolic gesture to support this event.
