March 10, 2013 Kangar - University Health Center in collaboration with the State Department of Health and University Counseling Center has run a NCD Program to the University Security Department. This department was selected as the apprentice organization for the program as they play an important role in safeguarding the University’s assets. Therefore, having a good health should be their priorities in order to carry their duties well.
Pre-intervention programs have been carried out on the 78 staff of the Security Department on 9 and 10 March 2013 to determine the health of the participants before the program. The objective of the program that will be conducted for about 6 months, from March to August 2013 was to expose the participants to the healthy lifestyle and behavior change therapy for effective weight loss. The program tentative includes talk of healthy eating, talk on stress management, 10 000 steps program, healthy cooking demonstrations and others guide to healthy lifestyle. After 6 months, post-intervention will be done to the participants to evaluate their health. If the participants follow the guidelines given during the program, they will achieve good health.
