Health Centre of University Malaysia Perlis ( UniMAP ) founded to provide health care services to the entire campus community consisting of students, staff and staff’s dependents.
It has been fully operational as a health clinic on July 2, 2006 at the Residential College Kg . Wai Kuala Perlis . On January 30, 2007 , additional branches in the Residential College , Tan Sri Aishah Ghani , Wang Ulu was opened to serve nearly 1,000 students who live in that college. In early 2009 Health Clinic has been upgraded to the Health Centre due to the type of service that has been expanded.
On 2012, Health Center opened another 2 branch in addition located in university main campus, Pauh Putra and in Residential College, Sg. Chuchuh. On 12 April 2014, Health Centre in Pauh Putra was officiated by Deputy Minister, Ministry Of Health, YB.Dato’ Seri Dr. Hilmi B. Haji Yahaya as the Main University Health Centre Health while the rest become its branches.
For employment aspect, in the beginning there were only 9 employees working in University Health Centre which consist of 6 clinical staff and 3 administrative staff . In line with University Health Centre development from time to time , in 2013 there were 31 employees which consist of 24 clinical staff and 7 administrative staff under the leadership of the Health Centre’s Director .
University Health Centre actively upgrading and adding the health care services to meet the need of health care services in the university and local. This is accomplished by the opening of the Women's Clinic in 2010 , Physiotherapy Unit in 2011 ,Exercise Stress Test Unit and Imaging Unit in 2012 and Dental Unit in 2013. Now, Health Centre on progress of opening Extended Hours Clinic and Haemodialysis Unit which is expected to be operational in 2014. University Health Centre not only care about the university community, but also concern about the local. Thus, led to annually community services such as free medical screening programme, campaign regarding health and open it services and facilities to the local.
University Health Centre will continue to grow with the increase of health facilities year by year. This effort is consistent with the pattern shift in environmental health, health technology development globally and liberally pursuant to the changes of diseases, health, environment and technological development globally.
